The Iowa Caucus is no less settled than it was one year ago. A recent Rasmussen Reports poll taken 12-28-11 shows the race to be a dead heat.
The poll shows both Rick Santorum and Rick Perry making significant gains, while Michelle Bachmann has fallen to just 5%.
Though the numbers show a close race, some candidates will not be viable in many precincts and thus not receive actual votes and must join with a second stronger, viable candidate.

I find it hard to believe that even though former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is the most experienced candidate that PAC monies and vicious advertisements have changed him from a frontrunner Presidential Candidate to a footnote in Iowa. It is true, Mr. Gingrich has personal character flaws, but Romney is still too “slick” and Clinton-like to me and Ron Paul is too weak on Foreign Affairs and Defense.
To me it seems that people are looking for someone who looks good on the Internet and Television, but not someone who can take on President Obama head on and knows the insides of Washington politics as well as how an administration actually functions as opposed to how to be a Governor from a Liberal state. I hope logic prevails and Newt Gingrich prevails and is nominated and not Mitt Romney. However, that is up to people in Iowa and the rest of the Republicans out there throwing stones.
In the final analysis Mr. Gingrich is the best choice, not Romney or Paul. If you want to see a winning ticket, it is Gingrich and Santorum in 2012. That would beat Obama and Biden.
I pick winners, not whiners, (Paul), and flip-flopping plaster head politicians like Mitt Romney. I know, in my former profession you pick the best or you don’t come home. I want a Commander in Chief like Gingrich, not someone who is a bit wimpy, (Paul again), or someone who rubbed elbows with Ted Kennedy too long. That is all.
Did you perhaps pick McCain in 2008?
I am former military also and I respect the fact greatly that BY FAR most active enlisted choose to donate their limited funds to Ron Paul. To me, that is a sign of an intelligent foreign policy. These men and women in uniform are choosing their leader with their hard earned dollars. I think it is only fitting to honor their choice for their commander in chief.
